Originally from Montgomery, AL, Bouie grew up on a farm in the country and was home schooled along with his 7 brothers and 2 sisters. He attended Montreat College in Western North Carolina where he received Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Education.
From there Bouie completed a 2,200 mile thru hike of the Appalachian trail, worked as an adventure guide on a charter sailboat in the Bahamas and trained sled dogs for the Iditarod in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
He has worked at summer camps in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas and California. He is also a Texas Certified Teacher in Science, Special Ed, and PE. Bouie taught high school and middle school science as well as pioneered an Outdoor Education program for Special Ed students suffering from Emotional Disturbance.
Bouie writes, "I have always felt a deep connection to nature at summer camp, and it is my dream to share that experience with the children, youth, and young adults in North Texas."
